Exploring Development Frontiers: Studium Generale at UGM
On February 20, 2025, the Faculty of Geography and Faculty of Forestry at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) hosted a Studium Generale titled “Studying Frontiers of Development in Indonesia.” This event was part of the broader research collaboration “Following Frontiers of the Forest City”, which focuses on sustainable and inclusive urbanization in Kalimantan and beyond.

Moderated by Stevie Nissauqodry (Faculty of Forestry UGM), the
discussions explored the complexities of urbanization, environmental sustainability, and socio-economic transformations in frontier regions. The event also facilitated knowledge exchange and strengthened collaborations between researchers from Indonesia and the Netherlands.

As part of the ongoing UGM-Utrecht University partnership, this Studium Generale contributes to a growing dialogue on sustainable development and interdisciplinary research.
