Public Lecture: Kalimantan as a Frontier for Sustainable Development

On August 9, 2023, the Regional and Urban Planning Engineering Study Program of the Kalimantan Institute of Technology hosted a public lecture on “Kalimantan as a Frontier for Sustainable Development”. The lecture was part of the Forest City project, which studies the impacts of relocating Indonesia’s capital to East Kalimantan.

The speaker at the lecture was Dr. Kei Otsuki from Utrecht University, who shared her insights and findings on the development challenges and opportunities related to the impact of Indonesia’s new capital city in Kalimantan. The lecture was moderated by Rizky Arif Nugroho, M.T., a lecturer from the Regional and Urban Planning Study Program at the Kalimantan Institute of Technology.

The lecture attracted students, lecturers, researchers, and practitioners who were interested in learning more about the capital relocation process and its implications for Kalimantan’s natural/built environments and diverse communities. The lecture also stimulated lively discussions and questions from the audience.-
