Winner 2023 – Day 2 » Making Cities Sustainable in Climate-Change: Just Energy Transition and Climate Adaptation in Smart Cities

Winner 2023 is a series of online events that showcase the collaboration between Indonesian and Dutch universities, research institutes, and industry partners in the areas of water, energy, food, health, and education. The event on October 11th will focus on the theme of “Making Cities Sustainable in Climate-Change: Just Energy Transition and Climate Adaptation in Smart Cities”. This event forms part of the second day of Winner 2023.

The panel discussion will feature Dr. Kei Otsuki, an associate professor of international development studies at Utrecht University, as the speaker. The moderator will be Dr. Rizal Sebastian, a professor of future urban systems at THUAS.

The panel discussion will also involve researchers, educators, policy-makers, and practitioners from both countries, who will engage in an interactive dialogue on topics such as:

  • Climate resilience for vulnerable urban population;
  • Smart and just energy transition for climate-neutral cities;
  • Climate adaptation and resilience for buildings and urban spaces;
  • Living lab approach for collaboration in research, education, and practice.

The event will take place from 14.00 to 15.15 GMT+7 / 09.00 to 10.15 GMT+2 and will be accessible via Zoom. Registration is free and open to anyone who is interested in the topic of sustainable and smart cities in the context of climate change.
