Following Frontiers team members Vandy Yoga Swara, Rizki Adriadi Ghiffari, Agung Jauhari, and Dr. Ari Susanti presented their research projects at the EuroSEAS 2024 conference, hosted from 24-26 July by the University of Amsterdam (UvA). This event celebrates a legacy of Southeast Asian studies that dates back decades, with roots in the work of UvA Professor W.F. Wertheim, who was instrumental in developing a critical and comparative tradition of Asian studies at the University of Amsterdam. The conference brought together researchers, scholars, and students from diverse fields to discuss pressing issues within Southeast Asian studies.
Each researcher’s presentation reflected a unique perspective on contemporary Southeast Asian dynamics, addressing themes of social justice, historical inequalities, and the lived experiences of marginalized communities. Their work aligns with UvA’s ongoing commitment to fostering international partnerships and supporting research that engages critically with complex global challenges. By participating in this conference, these researchers not only contributed to UvA’s scholarly community but also helped to further the university’s mission of building collaborative, impactful Southeast Asian studies.
