Studium Generale on Regional Development 

On Wednesday, 19 February 2025,’s Faculty of Geography and Faculty of Forestry hosted a Studium Generale on Regional Development. This event, part of the “Following Frontiers of the Forest City” research collaboration, brought together experts to discuss sustainable and inclusive urbanization in Kalimantan and beyond.

In the session Femke van Noorloos (Utrecht University) and Rijanta (Universitas Gadjah Mada)  provided valuable insights into urban expansion, rural-urban transitions, and the challenges of developing new cities. Participants engaged in meaningful discussions on sustainable regional planning and collaboration opportunities.
